Swimming is a fantastic way to keep fit and keep your energy levels up. There are special small ostomy bags available, which provide extra discretion and are ideal for sports or swimming.

Swimwear advice
Try before you buy. There’s specialist swimwear available, but you don’t have to buy it.

Ladies
  • a one-piece costume with detail or patterns will disguise the stoma bag
  • swimwear with a panel across the stomach offers extra support
  • sarongs are great for covering up on the beach

Men

  • you can wear swimming trunks made of a lycra-type material underneath shorts to help hold your stoma bag in place

Sunbathing
When sunbathing, apply suntan lotion only after you’ve put your bag on, as the creams may affect the adhesive.
