Urostomy – when you travel

Tip Print Share
Even if you feel well enough to start driving again, you must check with your doctor first. It’s also important to check with your car insurance company as policies will vary.

If you’re concerned about your seatbelt rubbing against your stoma, you may want to use a special attachment that holds your belt away from your abdomen. (These are usually available in car accessory shops.) As an alternative, you can place a folded hand towel across your lap to protect your stoma.

A leg bag can also be useful if you are going on a long journey or in case you get stuck in traffic. [Link to: leg bag]
