SenSura is the core range of ostomy bags from Coloplast. A unique double-layer adhesive makes SenSura bags secure, comfortable to wear and very easy to use.

To develop the SenSura product range, we worked closely with healthcare professionals and people living with a stoma. Listening to their experiences, we aimed to develop a product that met the need for all-round security and greater wearing comfort for people with a stoma.

SenSura® – Double-layer adhesive

Our solution is SenSura with the unique double-layer adhesive, which sets new  standards within ostomy care. It meets all the features required of an effective and  secure adhesive.

		SenSura® appliances for ileostomies With SenSura 1-piece drainable, the SenSura double-layer adhesive is permanently fixed to the pouch. To change the pouch, the whole appliance is removed and replaced.  SenSura 1-piece drainable is available with flat or convex baseplates. The broad assortment consists of various pre-cut or hole sizes which can be customised, with pouches in a variety of sizes available in transparent or opaque colour, with or without inspection window.
		SenSura® appliances for colostomies With SenSura 1-piece closed, the SenSura double-layer adhesive is permanently fixed to the pouch. To change the pouch, the whole appliance is removed and replaced. SenSura 1-piece closed is available with flat or convex baseplates. The broad assortment consists of various pre-cut or hole sizes which can be customised, with pouches in a variety of sizes available in transparent or opaque colour, with or without inspection window. Inspection window is a transparent window that makes it easy to position the adhesive around your stoma, combining the discretion of an opaque pouch with the convenience of a window.
		SenSura® appliances for urostomies With SenSura 1-piece urostomy, the SenSura double-layer adhesive is permanently fixed to the pouch. To change the pouch, the whole appliance is removed and replaced. SenSura 1-piece urostomy is available with flat or convex baseplates. The broad assortment consists of various pre-cut or hole sizes which can be customised, with pouches in a variety of sizes available in transparent or opaque colour.

I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 1990 at just 19 years of age. During the next 15 years, I continued to have several hospitalisations and was in a great deal of pain until in 2008 I had an ileostomy. The early days after the operation of getting your head round how you look, how other people see you, having to try and find the right products that work for you can be hard going, but there really is light at the end of the tunnel.

My Stoma Care Nurse helped me deal with each stage of the problems I was encountering and based on those problems, suggested a different product to try. It took time but I got there in the end! I now have a combination of products that really work for me. The biggest advantage for me having an ileostomy is now being able to go for walks free from pain, to be able to give my boys a piggy back without having to give up only after a few seconds because of the excruciating pain – and also to be able to do something as simple as a handstand – something I didn’t think twice about in my teens yet for a good half of my life I was in too much pain to even consider doing such a thing.

A stoma is a tough thing to have to come to terms with but with some positive thinking and by asking for the appropriate help, I have every confidence that everyone in a similar position can get there – like I did.”
