3. Why is it a good idea to perform a BodyCheck?

Most likely the profile of your abdomen has or will change over time, and it can be confusing finding the right pouching system to fit your body profile.

The BodyCheck guides you to find the pouching system that matches your individual body profile the best for the time being. BodyChecks should be done frequently to ensure that body profile changes are dealt with.

By ensuring, you always have the best pouching system, leakage and skin problems can be prevented, which leads to an easier everyday life.

4. How do I perform a BodyCheck?

The BodyCheck is done by answering 8 simple questions regarding the area around your stoma. 6. Can I order products via the BodyCheck?

We are able to send free of charge samples from the BodyCheck. If you are happy with these, you can order further products from the same place you get your supplies from today.

The profile of the area around the stoma has a profound impact on a product’s ability to fit the body. The BodyCheck considers the profile of the area around the stoma. However, other elements to consider and perhaps discuss with your enterostomal therapy nurse include:

  • Physical capabilities, such as dexterity and eye sight
  • Medication, such as steroids
  • General activity level
  • Skin problems

9. Can the BodyCheck solve my skin issues?

Skin problems are mainly due to leakage and the use of a product that doesn’t have a proper fit. Some of these problems may be avoided by doing the BodyCheck to ensure that you use a pouching system with the best possible fit.

For specific skin issues, please visit the Brava accessory tool or talk to your enterostomal therapy nurse.

Which type of pouching system do you prefer?

The type of pouching system is mainly a matter of preference.

1-piece pouching system

The pouch and the adhesive base plate come as one unit. This system is very flexible and lies flat against the body, making it more discreet under your clothing. When the pouch is changed the adhesive base is changed as well.

2-piece pouching system with mechanical coupling

The pouch is clicked onto the adhesive base plate with a click coupling. The adhesive base plate is rather rigid and easy to apply because you can see the stoma as you center the adhesive. With this system you can easily change you pouch without changing the adhesive base plate.

2-piece pouching system with adhesive coupling

The pouch is attached to the adhesive coupling taping the two units together. The adhesive base plate is flexible and lays flatter against the body compared to a click coupling. It is easy to apply because you can see the stoma as you center the adhesive. You can easily change your pouch without changing the adhesive base plate.
