The Coloplast Professional training portal offers a range of bladder and bowel care clinical programmes to support your career development. The aim of the online training is to support personal development and to increase standards of care within the clinical practice environment. Making continence care everyone’s business and an essential part of care delivery.

The programmes are free and open to registered nurses, healthcare assistants and student nurses wishing to acquire greater knowledge and skill in bladder and bowel management. For some, our blended learning programmes may just be a refresher, whilst for others it will be part of their career development and a series of steps towards becoming a Specialist Nurse.

This course is designed to give the learner an understanding of normal anatomy and function and an overview of bladder and bowel dysfunction. On completion the learner will be able to support adults with basic conservative management of bladder and bowel symptoms and know when more support is required / spot red flags.

Management of Bowel Continence in Adults - eLearning

This course is designed to give the learner a more in-depth understanding of bowel dysfunction and conservative management.

This has been designed to provide learners with a sound understanding of the complex continence needs of patients with Spinal Cord Injury. The module is designed to build on knowledge gained in Introduction to Bladder and Bowel Management, Management of Bladder Continence – Adults, Management of Bowel Continence – Adults, and should be taken before embarking upon Advanced Bladder Management - Principles of ISC, Advanced Bowel Management - Principles of Peristeen Anal Irrigation.

Coloplast Live - Bladder Masterclasses

Motivational Interviewing – Introducing ISC & Understanding the Female Psyche. It is well documented that there are a number of barriers preventing female patients from starting or staying on treatment. These one day Masterclasses are aimed at Clinicians who are developing and delivering bladder services in both acute and primary care.

Peristeen Trans Anal Irrigation 10th Anniversary Roundtable Events

A national roadshow celebrating 10 years of clinical evidence supporting the use of Peristeen to manage both neurogenic and functional bowel disorders. The evenings will consist of a series of short presentations and a round table discussion followed by networking over supper.

These events will all be Chaired by Anton Emmanuel, Senior Lecturer in Neuro-Gastroenterology at University College London and Consultant Gastroenterologist at University College Hospital, the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (Queen Square) and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (Stanmore).

Working in Partnership Developing Empowered Specialist Nurses

A small group of 15 experienced clinicians will embark on a journey to improve their business skills. Equip Specialist Nurses to set up, lead and develop their services. The content has been tailored and will be delivered by experts.

Following the a success of competency training last year, we have a revised programme, which includes a full day taught by National Experts. Find out more

The Coloplast team, supported by an experienced faculty of speakers, will deliver education that is evidence based and holistic. The aim is to drive improvements in care whilst ensuring that your patients’ needs remain at the forefront of everything we do.

ISC Competency & Care Training

Coloplast will run a series of skills workshops across the UK and Ireland that will look at the principles and practice of intermittent self catheterisation. These one day events will help you develop ISC teaching / practice and will aim to build on current knowledge through clinical evidence review, best practice sharing and case study presentation.

Peristeen Competency & Care Training

This skills based bowel management programme will offer students an opportunity to broaden knowledge around bowel care and management.

This will include practical scenarios on setting up an irrigation service from scratch. Our tutors have also offered all delegates an opportunity to spend a day in clinic with them.

Remaining dates 2018:

  • 18/07 - Oxford

Competency will be signed off in a class room setting and certificates issued when sign off completed in the individuals clinical setting. Our e-learning modules in ISC & Peristeen are a prerequisite to attending these session.
