Single-use devices

Our range of single-use devices – specifically designed and manufactured for managing bladder drainage – answers all your voiding dysfunction management needs. With indwelling times of up to 12 weeks, our line of Foley in-dwelling catheters is specially adapted to treat bladder drainage problems. To meet a range of budgetary needs, the Foley range is available in a variety of materials, from our ‘Folysil all silicone’ gold standard to our more economical latex line, ‘Folatex’.

Coloplast solutions for the lower urinary tract also address supra pubic drainage management via products such as our ‘Cystodrain Integral’, with an integrated balloon catheter for easy insertion and removal.

Treating bladder dysfunction

Bladder dysfunctions such as overactive bladder (OAB) can be treated using BoNee, our dedicated bladder injection needles developed in partnership with physicians to deliver low viscosity medications precisely where intended in the bladder wall.

Benign prostate hyperplasia

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the non-malignant proliferation of epithelial and stromal cells in the prostate gland. It is a gradually progressive, histologic change that leads to the enlargement of the prostate, primarily in older men. The prevalence of histologic BPH is estimated at 90% among men in their 70s.

BPH commonly presents with obstructive and irritative lower urinary tract symptoms, including incomplete emptying, a weak urine stream, and urinary hesitancy, frequency, urgency, nocturia, and incontinence. The condition is diagnosed based on the patient’s clinical history and digital rectal examination (DRE) findings, and confirmed by ultrasound examination and prostate biopsy.

Urodynamic testing

Typically conducted by urologists, urogynecologists or urology nurses, urodynamic testing provides physicians with the information they need to diagnose a patient's incontinence and recommend the best treatment options available. Urodynamic treatment options

Urodynamic investigations assess the function of the bladder and the bladder outflow tract (urethra). During a test, the bladder is filled and then emptied while pressure readings are taken from the bladder and the abdomen. The goal is to replicate the patient’s bladder symptoms, examine them and determine their cause.

Urodynamics is used to diagnose:

Stress urinary incontinence
Urge urinary incontinence
Mixed incontinence (stress and urge urinary incontinence)

Urodynamics is particularly important if surgery is being considered, as it can help make sure the correct procedure is performed.

The BoNee bladder injection needle

The BoNee needle is used to deliver injectable materials such as botulinum toxin into the urinary bladder wall during transurethral endoscopic procedures. Read more about bladder injection needle

When people who suffer from a strong urge to pass urine do not respond to other medication, they may be given a bladder injection.

Injecting botulinum toxin into the bladder wall can significantly relax the bladder and ease the symptoms. The procedure is well tolerated, but needs to be repeated every 4 to 9 months. Recent FDA approvals have opened this treatment option to patients suffering from idiopathic neurogenic detrusor overactivity (NDO) and overactive bladder (OAB).

The Coloplast BoNee needle was developed in partnership with physicians to deliver botulinum toxin and other low viscosity medication precisely where intended through a rigid or flexible cystoscope.
